Thomas Garchinski is a Metis Adventure Photographer & Videographer based in Diamond Valley AB. His indigenous upbringing instilled a deep respect for the land and its stories. The indigenous values and teachings have shaped every facet of his art, with the goal of connecting viewers to the beauty of the world around them.
Over the past decade, Thomas has built a versatile visual portfolio across different genres of Adventure Photography. His drive to explore remote locations has taken him to the Athabasca Sand Dunes, The Booming Ice Chasm, The Nahanni National Park and all over the Alberta Rockies. With proficient skills in Rock Climbing, Ice Climbing, Alpine Climbing and Ski touring there is almost nowhere Thomas cannot access.
His philosophy around his art is deeply rooted within his connection to the land. For Thomas, Nature is where he is closest with God, and his art often showcases the connection between nature and the human experience amongst it. It is meant to inspire humility, curiosity and a respect for the wild places that can still teach us.
In the next 5 years, Thomas’s goal is to be a ACMG Rock Guide and to obtain a forest bathing certificate in order to guide adventure photography workshops that incorporate a deeper wellness aspect of connecting the participants to nature.
